Our Climate Story

We are Kent and Lisa, a married couple, and the founders of Right Brain Electronics.  We met on our high school sailing team, on the island of Oahu in the Hawaiian islands, just a stone’s throw from the popular snorkeling spot Hanauma Bay.  Over the decades, we lamented the degradation of the coral reef on our annual return visits to the island.  Having been life-long nature and wildlife lovers, we’ve had the fortunate opportunity to experience intact ecosystems in the Ganesh Himal range in Nepal, Patagonian Andes, Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica, and the Peruvian Amazon.  Fast forward to 2022, after our youngest left for university, we took a 4-month sabbatical, including a month of daily scuba diving in Sulawesi and Raja Ampat in the coral triangle, and two weeks in Borneo, spending our mornings and evenings in search of elusive wildlife.  During this sabbatical, we planned out the next phase of our engineering consultancy, and came to the clear conclusion that it was time to pivot our business to helping the planet, something we had been considering for years.

Upon our return to the US, this decision was further validated by the excitement we felt in discovering the myriad ways companies and organizations were working to combat climate change.  Through networking, we were fortunate to find three climate technology clients in 2023, and discovered that our core skill-set of developing electronics and products for the consumer industry was directly transferable to climate technology.  In addition, we were elated to find that the specific skills we had honed in the consumer electronics industry, such as rapid time-to-market, aggressive cost-of-goods optimization and scaling to large production quantities, were welcomed by our climate technology clients.  We hope you’ll join us as we embark on this transformative journey towards a more sustainable tomorrow.  We need all hands on deck.
